I Can See All the Obstacles in My Way

Obstacles, whether overcome or not, allow for growth and wisdom. They make us stronger. If we do not overcome, we still might become stronger by standing still; steadfast. And if we trip and fall, we most likely will eventually get up. Obstacles we cannot conquer alone, often push us to seek help. Hence, the lesson to learn is:

1. Assistance helps curb excess pride
2. We learn who we can count on
3. We recognize our limitations
4. God can be glorified if we seek His help
5. We might consider a different direction. Was this the right path to start out with? 
6. Timing. Time is everything. The right thing at the wrong time is not right at all  

 Of course, in retrospect, after we rise above the challenge, one might notice:

1. We develop new skills
   
2. We exercise existing skills an improve proficiency
3. Build self confidence
4. Raise levels of trust in God, family, friends, methods and systems. Or what not to trust...
   
5. The next time we run into a similar hindrance, we know how to succeed
6. We're able to understand, teach and help others. 

So, true is the proverb: "That which does not kill me makes me stronger."

Standing Still to Win the Race

Life lesson for today: When you have places to go, yet no feasible way to get there, try standing still and your participation in the race might just be more relevant than if you were the first to jump from the starting point. Retreat, regroup, rethink. (Basically: Don´t have a fit.) <- In all reality, this is more ¨wishful thinking¨ than any sort of participation at all. I just refuse to believe that I have little or no options..So, I´ll call ¨standing still¨ an option of my own choice. At the end of the day, time will tell. Success in life is more often about how we adapt to plan ¨B¨, than about how well plan ¨A¨ turns out.

I still think Vision Improves With Age

My car broke down today. I´d love to believe it´s part of God´s plan, but it doesn´t take a genius to figure out that that a ve-huh-cuhl grows old a little faster than dogs do. Thus, a 20-year-old car is gonna need to be ´put down´soon. -Especialy if it has an ah-toe-matik transmission. So, my vision exercise for today is: 1. Be grateful if you´ve learned sometime in the past not to burn most bridges. I need to get places, and I might need a favor or two. 2. Choose either to stress or to depend on God. Of course, I am depending on God cuz any effort of mine is futile. I can´t fix it. I can´t buy a new one. So, I´ll cry on Daddy´s shoulder. Why...WHY do I wait until things break to fix them, when the brokeness is SO paralyizing to daily routines and tasks???? Why??? Why wait? Hind sight? Not going there. The fact of the matter is: I need a car, (and a washing machine), tomorrow..No. Make that today. It´s after midnight. Something to be grateful for: I´m safe & sound despite the fact that my car broke down in a desolate place...If it had stopped less than 1/2 a mile earlier, my cel wouldn´t have had signal. It was on my way home from work & I know the route like the back of my hand. Without signal, I would have had to walk that desolate road to get help. I wasn´t going to camp out, so I called a tow truck. Then, when the truck was almost there, (about an hour and a half later, and counting, and after 2 ve-huh-cuhlz side swiped limo), I thought I´d try & make the car go a little further, which it did, so I cancelled the tow truck service. I got about a mile down the road to an even more pitch-dark desolate situation, with no shoulder, so I couldn´t pul over. I had to wait for another wrecker to come. 3. Vision lesson #3: Not retrospect, but introspect....Today it dawned on me that when I turn things over for others to take care of, or IF I ask for help and I actually get some help, then I have a bad habit of taking things away from the one who is helping, only to find out AGAIN that this was something I handed over precisely because I couldn´t take care of it myself! Am I walking in circles? <- Another thing to watch out for...Hah! Now I´m suspicious of my own orientation. (Oh! The danger!) Father! Please, protect me from myself! OK, already! This is just too much Vision. I think I´ll get to bed and dream about walking straight... Good night! Sleep tight! Don´t let the bed bugs bite! If they do, squeeze them tight! And maybe they´ll come back another night! =-D Hugs!

CONFIANZA, FE, INCREDULIDAD y TEMOR por Darcy Hook Esta es una reflexion sobre un comentario referente a La Confianza, puesta por mi hijo, Fernando Arias Hook, en Facebook en octubre, 2009. Dedico la nota a mis Padres, pastores, profesores de escuela dominical, lideres y sobre todo a mi Senor y Su Espiritu Santo que me guia dia a dia. —Esta nota esta redactada sin el uso correcto de mayusculas y signos de puntuacion— CONFIANZA involucra dos partes: alguien quien confía y a otro en quien es depositada la confianza. Debemos aprender a confiar a Dios todo cuanto nos pertenece, como también pedirle a Dios que confíe en nosotros la buena y sana administración de los regalos que nos da. (TOPIC INITIATED BY FERNANDO ARIAS HOOK) NOTA DE DARCY SOBRE LA CONFIANZA: …y debemos, como hijos de Dios e imitadores de Él, ser dignos de la confianza depositada en nosotros… … hay quienes no han experimentado la confianza o la han vivido demasiado poco… pasa mucho cuando se es niño y dependemos de otros y no queda otra más que ‘confiar’ en ellos… pasa con la violencia afectiva a toda edad…y esta violencia no deja marcas visibles…el resultado es la falta de confianza, incredulidad y temor…así como el hombre incrédulo en la Biblia…él necesitaba sanidad y Jesús le preguntó si CREÍA…dijo que sí, pero le pidió a Jesús que ayudara a su incredulidad… …el pueblo de Israel no entró al Mar Rojo creyendo…entró con miedo y por persecución…la persecución y la prueba son una oportunidad de aprender a confiar en Dios…inclusive, es muy común que quién haya sufrido violencia afectiva pueda OBEDECER con más facilidad que CREER…esto también puede ser resultado del abuso…(comparable con la esclavitud del pueblo de Israel)…podemos, entonces USAR la OBEDIENCIA aprendida para ‘confiar’ en Dios porque Él nos manda a confiar enl Él…ahora, entonces cuando entremos al Mar Rojo, (persecución y prueba), pidamos a Dios que nos ayude con nuestra incredulidad / temor…confesemos: ‘YA NO SERÉ DESCONFIADO CON DIOS…’… YA NO SERÉ INCRÉDULO NI TEMEROSO…’ mira que no hay nada grandioso ni sobrenatural en lo LÓGICO…(!!!)…¿A QUÉ HORA, entonces, DAMOS LUGAR A LA MANO TODOPODEROSA DE DIOS, SI SIEMPRE HACEMOS LO LÓGICO?…(??)…tenemos que mojarnos los pies en el Mar Rojo para que se partan las aguas…O, al menos algunos tenemos que hacer el papel de Moisés para que otros pasen en seco…vas a ser un libertador o parte del pueblo…no es malo ser del pueblo PERO si sigues creciendo, no crees que algún día te toca ser libertador? … …la fe es la certeza de lo que se espera y la convicción de lo que no se ve…¿COMO VAS A TENER CERTEZA / FE / CONFIANZA, SI NUNCA le das oportunidad a Dios de mostrar SU MANO TODOPODEROSA en algo más allá de la lógica…algo más de lo que puedas pedir o pensar…(!!!) YooHoo? ! …¿no es acaso la falta de confianza / falta de fe / incredulidad / temor un perfecto ejemplo de ‘creer el Evangelio y negar su poder’ ?? <– ESO LO DIJO JESÚS!! Si no niegas el poder, ¿porque no le das a Dios hoy la oportunidad de MOSTRARTE SU OMNIPOTENCIA dando unos pasos afuera de lo lógico / normal? Gracias le doy a mi Padre, Dios, quién me ha puesto una Mentora y un Pastor, quienes caminan en lo sobrenatural de Su mano poderosa! Gracias! …Dios es digno de nuestra confianza… …pensando mas alla…al otro lado del desierto, el pueblo de Israel se encontró en el desierto…y tardaron allí demasiado tiempo por necios…y Moisés nunca entró a la Tierra Prometida…y yo? no seré necia ni tomaré la justicia en mis manos…Buscaré la Sabiduría y dejaré al Señor pelear mis batallas…de Jehová es la venganza… La necedad, la desobediencia, juzgar a otros y la venganza son algunas de las formas de NO ALCANZAR LA TIERRA PROMETIDA… Para todos mis amigos de Facebook: Un gran abrazo! Fri.Oct.02.09 Today was a ´good day´at work. It ended with a sense of accomplishment. Tomorrow I start the Academia, (again). I´ll start from the beginning. I actually already did the first two levels of four, but I quit about 3 yrs ago. No doubt, much of the knowledge´s lost by now.
